The lyrics are interesting, especially when Selci writes “My love, my love, you take away the sins of the world,” which reminds me of a hymn that we sing in the Catholic church. The sixth track, “My Love” is groovy and futuristic. The echo emphasizes the harmony of her voice. On the contrary, this definitely emphasizes her beautiful voice. ![]() This track strays away from the 80’s theme and goes back to the mellow melody of the first two tracks. “To Be Alone” starts out with an echo on her voice, which I personally don’t like because I can’t really understand what she’s saying. My favorite lyric was “You told me that it would be better, that it would be over, you told me that the end would never come.” In this song, she sings about her relationship feeling like it’s never-ending, similar to the global pandemic we’re all experiencing at this time. Once again, this song gives me a similar vibe to “Lost In A Taboo,” which I really enjoy paired with Selci’s soft voice. The fourth track on the 9-track album, called “Love Pandemic,” brings a whimsical vibe to the record. A lyric that I specifically liked was “I stuff my feet into these shoes, someone’s gotta break the rules.” In this song, Selci sings about changing herself for her partner, resulting in her feeling “lost in a taboo” because she’s trying to fit into a perfect feminine persona. “Lost In A Taboo” has almost an 80’s Madonna feel to it, which I was excited to hear after the first two tracks. We’ll both be on the pavement, Juliet and Romeo, but the knife was our love.” My favorite lyric is, “But someone always dies, yeah we both know that anyhow. This song highlights the feeling when a relationship is doing more harm than good. This one is less repetitive than the first and has more fast-paced singing. The next song, “Talk Abou It,” is a much different vibe than the first song. Selci sings about when a relationship starts to feel more like a chore than a reward, just going through the motions rather than actually feeling pleasure from your partner. The first track, called “When I Became a Routine Task (Chore),” has a lowkey, mellow melody. “Fallen Woman” is her first full-length album. I rate this album a 5/10.Selci’s debut full-length album “Fallen Woman” pushes the art pop genre. From sounding like Madonna to just sounding disturbing, this album is not one of her best. While I do love some of the songs on the album, such as “Do What You Want” and “Donatella,” Gaga tries to sing a different style of songs and she fails. Listening to “Venus,” I kept thinking to myself that this sounded just like Madonna I couldn’t pinpoint which Madonna song this sounded like, but Gaga sounded very Madonna-esque with her vocal tones. Although the lyrics were different, the beat and timing of the words was practically the same Gaga shouts “Fashion” in her song just like Madonna shouts “Holiday” in hers.īut that is not the only Madonna-sounding song on Gaga’s album. ![]() As I listened to it, I read through some of the comments and someone said that it sounded like Madonna’s song “ Holiday.” I listed to “Holiday,” and the similarities between the two were too obvious to ignore. Gaga tries to rap, which she fails miserably at, and I could not understand a word in this song. In addition, she sings “Ha Ha Ha” in a robotic sounding voice in the beginning that further adds to the creepiness of this song.Īnother song on her album, “Jewels N’ Drugs” featuring T.I., Too $hort, and Twista, was just plain awful. ![]() Gaga sings, “I killed my former and left her in the trunk on Highway 10.” These lyrics just put a bad taste in my mouth. The first song on the album, “Aura,” is very robotic sounding and the lyrics are just plain weird. Some of the songs on “Artpop” literally hurt my ears. Granted, I applaud her for trying something new she just doesn’t execute it well. I was hoping for something similar to her older songs, such as “Alejandro” or “Edge of Glory,” but Gaga pushed the envelope with a new style of music. However, Gaga’s new album “ Artpop” falls short of everything I expected it to be. The beat of her songs and her lyrics make me want to get up and dance. The picture is from The Guardian.Īlthough I’m not a “little monster,” as Lady Gaga likes to call her biggest fans, I don’t mind listening to her music. This is the album cover for Lady Gaga’s “Artpop” album.
